Loretta enjoyed sewing and making clothing for her family, fixing hair, watching TV, singing, attending family gatherings, and cooking. She attended Dunbar High School in Center Point, later graduating from Childress High School in Nashville. Loretta, known to family and friends as “Bobbie Jean”, was born the youngest of eight children to the union of Alonzo and Dorothy Dowd Vaughn on August 12, 1935, in Center Point, Arkansas.
